Technical Specialist I -- Aerodynamicist
Applied Aerodynamics Specialist - Aerodynamic analysis of potential products and competitive configurations1) Development and analysis of computational fluid dynamic models to evaluate aerodynamic characteristics throughout the entire flight envelope2) Applies diversified knowledge and experience of engineering principles and practices in specific technical areas.3) Makes decisions independently on engineering problems and methods and represents the organization to customers and suppliers to resolve important issues and to plan and coordinate work.4) Will use advanced techniques and the modification and extension of theories and practices of a specific field.5) Plan, develop, coordinate, and direct a large and important engineering project or a number of small projects with many complex features. Provide technical guidance to other engineers.6) Develop and evaluate plans and criteria for a variety of projects and activities to be carried out by others. Assess the feasibility and soundness of proposed engineering evaluation test, products, or equipment when necessary data are insufficient or confirmation by testing is advisable.7) Maintains a current knowledge of developments in the field of specialty and/or other related aircraft fields in order to recommend innovations to improve quality and effectiveness of company product. Unique Skills Required: Must possess solid background in subsonic and supersonic aerodynamics.Must possess solid background in supersonic gas dynamics, particularly as it relates to inlet and nozzle flow.Must possess demonstrated skills necessary for analyzing complex 3-D internal flowpaths using structured and/or unstructured CFD solvers.Must possess demonstrated skills necessary for analyzing complex 3-D flow fields using structured and/or unstructured grid generation and CFD solvers.Must be able to work independently while exercising sound judgment regarding the selection of analytical processes and the interpretation of CFD solutions.Must have significant experience using Unix and Linux operating systems.Demonstrated experience with some or all of following pre-processors, solvers, and post-processors is desirable: Gridgen, Overflow, USM, WIND, Tecplot, and EnSight. Experience with flowpath optimization methods, CAD modeling, and programming is a plus.Experience with optimization methods, CAD modeling, and programming (Fortran, C, Matlab) is a plus. Experience/Education Required: - Minimum Training & Education Requirements:1. - Bachelors degree in engineering, a related curriculum, or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.2. - With a Bachelor's degree, canididate must possess five (5) years in the specific technical discipline or ten (10) years broad engineering experience in several technical disciplines, or3. - Three (3) years in the specific technical discipline with Masters degree, orOne (1) year in the specific technical discipline with PhD.4. - The level of technical skill and abilities appropriate for this grade will be established by each discipline4. - Strong Program and Communications skills are a must Submit Your Resume Online Now Gulfstream is an equal opportunity employer.
