TEST ENGINEER- Hartford County, CT
This is an opportunity for you to be a key player in the engineering group, modernizing an older test lab. It is conceivable you could eventually become Lab Manager, or if you prefer, this could lead to a move into Design/Applications Engineering. This flourishing, employee-oriented division of a Fortune 1000 corporation manufactures two highly engineered, unique product lines, which are expected to double the company's business in the next five years. Due to their market-leading unique products, this manufacturer is having their best year ever. Sales jumped by 28% between 2006 and 2007, and they currently have a two-year backlog in orders! They recently expanded their manufacturing space to handle the demand. The environment here is dynamic and exciting, lean manufacturing techniques have been in place for years, and the shop is clean. After spending some time in Applications/Design learning the product and processes, you will be working closely with Design Engineers, designing and building test rigs, LabView programming, specifying and utilizing test control and data acquisition software, using hydraulic actuators, load cells, transducers, measurement devices, and much more. The lab is older, so you will also be adding digital outputs to analog equipment. Supposedly, there is money in the budget for new equipment you justify. You will have the services of a machinist with machine shop and two good technicians. Several engineers I have placed here have come to me years later and have thanked me for the connection. They routinely promote from within. The salary ranges from $60,000 to $70,000, depending on level of experience, and they offer a full, highly competitive benefits package, which includes relocation assistance. People stay with the company long term, and actually retire from here. Requires a BS degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, and three or more years background in engineering Test & Development labs. They also require ability to program in LabView, as well as experience in test control and data acquisition software. Permanent U.S. residency is required. Contact Kent Kirkland, C.P.C. at KirklandSEARCH for more information at kirkland@connix.com , (203) 729-7000.
