Systems Hardware Engineer - North Reading, MA

Teradyne's Assembly Test Division (ATD) designs, manufactures, and markets a broad range of circuit board test and inspection systems, peripheral instrumentation and related software and test-development tools for the Aerospace, Automotive, and Defense Industry. Our mission is to help electronics manufacturers ensure the integrity and quality of their products with the highest possible fault coverage and defect detection technology available. Our systems are built to provide rapid-cycle-time inspection and cost-effective test platforms for prototyping, manufacturing, and depot repair stations worldwide.
Duties & Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:The complete working package of a major, new, large test system. Ensure that all parts of the system are designed and implemented to meet final system specifications.Integrate system design across hardware, software, mechanical, and manufacturing engineers, both internal and at subcontractors.Specify operation of interfaces and ensure implementation is correct. Document interfaces and system architecture. Participate in debug and bring-up of final system.
Basic Qualifications, Experience, Skills & Education Required
Working knowledge of:hardware design (especially signaling and signal transmission)software design (.NET, Linux, embedded and PC), system design (cables, AC and DC power)and design for manufacturability.
Expertise in one of these areas preferred: BS in some Engineering discipline or equivalent experience required, MS preferred. 10 years experience with large systems design or integration in an engineering capacity.Ability to work with a large and diverse group of engineers.Excellent communications skillsAbility to describe and document technical topics.
