DESCRIPTIONSupport successful conception, development, and/or application of sophisticated avionics sensors by creating, gathering and documenting cohesive customer and regulatory requirements: supporting system and software level designs and subsequent installation and certification in aircraft; and assuring system compliance to all requirements, including quantitative compliance with robustness needs. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Work with customer and project engineers, develop concepts for complex products including product definition, feasibility study and market analysis Research emerging technologies and components which have potential to provide a competitive advantage Collect information regarding product required functionality, manufacturing, installation, operating environment and interfaces, and utilize the information to guide product design decisions Maintain and communicate requirements, allocate requirements among subsystems/functional disciplines and assure compatibility so that the product ultimately meets the final objectives Participate in product design activities including electrical, software, or mechanical development Create and review software life cycle data including certification plans, requirements and test documentation Interface with regulatory agencies to facilitate software and product acceptance/approval Conduct software conformity review activities Review product information including manuals and brochures for technical accuracy Perform other job-related duties as assigned EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED:BS or MS in Electrical, Aerospace, or Software Engineering Excellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0) Relevant experience and/or training in the development of embedded software in C, C++, and/or assembly language using structured software development methodologies such as RTCA/DO-178B Experience with DOORs Strong written and verbal communication skills Strong analytical and organizational skills Experience in qualifying complex avionics systemsDESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:5+ years applicable experience is a major plus
