Systems Engineer II - Earth Terminal Maintenance
The Systems Engineer II - Earth Terminal Maintenance - will contribute to system design and engineering, installation and interconnection of systems. The systems are mechanical, electrical, and RF-based. Monitor system operation, analyze system performance, and identify deficiencies. Correct system malfunctions and maintain system health and instruct and demonstrate the use and maintenance of systems. Make recommendations to engineering and manufacturing concerning improvements to products and correction of deficiencies. Evaluate and recommend methods of testing, operation, and maintenance of systems. Will be required to attain and maintain certification for ground terminal operations. Will work in an open environment where frequent and direct interaction and collaboration with customers and peers is ordinary. Will work a nontraditional work schedule - in three week intervals (day shift for three weeks, then night shift for three weeks). Will work 12 hour shifts - four days on, and then four days off. Will be required to work weekends and holidays as schedule dictates. Basic Qualifications - Required Experience, Skills: Requires a bachelors degree in an engineering subject, or equivalent experience, plus a minimum of two years of applicable work experience. Requires one or more years of experience performing maintenance functions on a ground terminal (earth terminal). Requires four or more years experience performing electrical, mechanical, and/or RF maintenance. Must be able to distinguish the difference between colors on a computer monitor (specifically red, blue, white, and green). Requires ability to utilize graphical and textual color displays of remote systems to evaluate and respond to mission needs. Ability to work at heights (will occasionally work at 60 feet or higher). Safety training will be provided. Requires willingness and availability to work a nontraditional work schedule - in three week intervals (day shift for three weeks, then night shift for three weeks). Requires ability to satisfy requirements for a Tops Secret SCI SSBI security clearance. Desired Experience, Skills, Knowledge: A current and active Top Secret SCI SSBI security clearance is a significant advantage. Ability to understand and operate multiple types of test equipment, i.e. oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, etc. Must be able to make appropriate decisions regarding repair of systems, replacement of units within a system and repair or replacement of components. Experience applying the principles of engineering and science to include: E lectronics (both analog and digital), circuit design, mechanics, and fundamental knowledge of software design and logistics support. Ability to make appropriate recommendations to engineering and manufacturing concerning improvements to products and correction of deviancies. Ability to effectively evaluate and recommend methods of testing, operation and maintenance of systems.
