Systems Engineer 3/4 - International Apache Training Systems Position Description The UK Apache Training Systems program within Boeing Training Systems and Services, located in St. Louis, MO, is seeking a Systems Engineer to work in and engineering team that provides updates to the UK Apache high fidelity simulators. The selected applicant will perform requirements analysis, requirements documentation activities, and will support program development as a Subject Matter Expert within a multi-disciplined engineering team. The teams focus is on the development of hardware and software system modifications and architecture changes to upgrade the previously fielded Full Mission simulator and Field Deployable Simulators. The candidate will be called upon to apply their Subject Matter Expertise to assist the software engineering staff through their design, unit test and hardware-software integration of new training solutions for the UK customer. This candidate will be responsible in applying Boeings best systems engineering principles and practices in the highly dynamic environment of these high-fidelity simulation devices. Specific duties will include requirements analysis, dissection, and traceability with application to the simulator design. Preparation of requirements traceability documentation and program/customer review presentations will be required. Participation on the review of software engineering requirements peer review documentation to insure the flow-down of system level requirements into the software applications. Review and acceptance of test engineering test plans and procedures to insure complete coverage of the systems engineering requirements for each upgrade. The candidate will interface directly with and support the Apache Training Systems test engineering team and will support test activities as a Subject Matter Expert when required. Previous experience as a UK Apache pilot is highly desired. An engineering background with demonstrated application of systems engineering principles is a must. Experience and familiarity with trainer and simulator requirement applications toward training equipment architecture development is recommended. The selected candidate will apply their subject matter expertise on the UK Apache aircraft systems, avionics and weapons systems with a focus on application to the current simulator architecture and hardware functionality. The selected candidate applies an interdisciplinary, collaborative approach to plan, design, develop and verify a lifecycle balanced system of systems and system solutions. Evaluates customer/operational needs to define and coordinate system performance requirements, integrate technical parameters and assure compatibility of all physical, functional and program interfaces. Performs various analyses to optimize total system of systems and/or system architecture. Performs analyses for safety, reliability, maintainability, testability, human systems integration, survivability, vulnerability, susceptibility, system security, regulatory, certification, product assurance and other specialties quality factors into a preferred configuration to ensure mission success. Develops the planning, organization, implementation and monitoring of requirements management processes, tools, risk, issues, opportunity management and technology readiness assessment processes. Resolves cross-functional technical issues. Works under general direction. Preferred -Extensive knowledge of customer's/supplier's organization, processes, policies and procedures, products, requirements, capabilities, practices, support resources, preferences, constraints, etc. [ + ] Product Life-cycle Basic - Complete knowledge of product lifecycle, including manufacturing, deployment, modification, aging and continued service, and disposal. Preferred -Extensive and specialized knowledge of engineering discipline(s) (e.g., electrical, mechanical, software engineering) applied to product related systems (e.g., aircraft, avionics, propulsion, spacecraft, information/ communication systems) throughout the product development life cycle, from concept development to deployment. Education and/or Experience Level 3 - Degree and typical experience in engineering classification: Bachelor's and 5 or more years' experience, Master's degree with 3 or more years' experience or PhD degree with experience. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard. Level 4 - Degree and typical experience in engineering classification: Bachelor's and 9 or more years' experience, Master's with 7 or more years' experience or PhD with 4 or more years' experience. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry.
