Systems Engineer 3 / 4 Position Description System Engineer working in support of Philadelphia Rotorcraft programs such as domestic and International (H-47) Chinook and (V-22) Osprey. Applies an interdisciplinary, collaborative approach to plan, design, develop and verify a lifecycle balanced system of systems and system solutions. Evaluates customer/operational needs to define and coordinate system performance requirements, integrate technical parameters and assure compatibility of all physical, functional and program interfaces. Performs various analyses to optimize total system of systems and/or system architecture. Derives and develops architectures, functional requirements, refinements and product designs. Assists in the integration of technical, cost, value, risks and specialty engineering considerations into definition of the product. Interfaces with other members of the project or program teams, management, sales and marketing staff, customers and suppliers to meet group, organization and company objectives. Performs technical planning and control; maintains and improves processes and software tools. Trains and instructs others. Utilize DOORS (Design Object Oriented Requirements System) database to trace requirements from Weapon System Leveldown to supplier component level, support A/C (aircraft) delivery records, ECPs (Engineering Change Proposals) and major proposals, covering areas of Engineering Estimates, Material Estimates, Operations/Factory Estimates, Statements of Work, Integrated planning and Baseline management. Plan, schedule and execute program requirements within Prime contract restraints. Performs analyses for certification, product assurance and other specialties quality factors into a preferred configuration to ensure mission success. Develops the planning, organization, implementation and monitoring of requirements management processes, tools, risk, issues, opportunity management and technology readiness assessment processes. Resolves cross-functional technical issues. Works under general direction. The ability to communicate with technical personnel from multiple skill areas and functions to evaluate technical information and issues impacting design, production, and support of products, services, or other deliverables. Preferred - [ + ] Process Measurement Basic - Extensive and specialized ability to identify and create qualitative or quantitative measures of success and failure. Extensive and specialized ability to select the key parameters and develop standards to monitor progress, provide updates of performance, and plot trends over time. Preferred -Extensive knowledge of various engineering disciplines such as electrical, mechanical, and systems. The ability to communicate with technical personnel from multiple skill areas and functions to evaluate technical information and issues impacting design, production, and support of products, services, or other deliverables. [ + ] Project Leadership Basic - Complete ability to accept, direct, and perform responsibilities and work assigned tasks as a project team member in support of the overall project. Complete ability to lead and direct the activities and resources of assigned projects and support higher graded employees in large scale and complex projects. Preferred -Extensive and specialized ability to identify and create qualitative or quantitative measures of success and failure. Extensive and specialized ability to select the key parameters and develop standards to monitor progress, provide updates of performance, and plot trends over time. Education and/or Experience Level 3 - Degree and typical experience in engineering classification: Bachelor's and 5 or more years' experience, Master's degree with 3 or more years' experience or PhD degree with experience. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard. Level 4 - Degree and typical experience in engineering classification: Bachelor's and 9 or more years' experience, Master's with 7 or more years' experience or PhD with 4 or more years' experience. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
