Essential Functions:
Analyzes end user computing system requirements. Designs, evaluates, builds, and enhances the company computing delivery systems hardware and software components. Designs and integrates delivery systems, ensures production readiness, and supports problem management and resolution through tactical and strategic insertions. Acts as consultant for and coordinates with end users, computing architects, delivery systems functions, procurement organizations and suppliers.Provides technical leadership necessary to develop company delivery systems and components, to design and build such systems, and for major technical projects.Identifies and commits resources.Interfaced with suppliers to provide delivery systems direction, products and services.Provides leadership for the resolution of complex problems.Guides and directs less experienced personnel.Influences computing budgets funding and resource priorities.Creates and executes technical implementation plans for installing and upgrading customer facing systems.Resolve technical issues in support of implementation plans.Creates installation artifacts for all work done.Minimizes risks of downtime or error through planning and automation.Participate in coordination meetings.Communicate directly with customers on technical issues via e-mail or phone..Visit customers (onsite or on location)Develop and maintain documentation (operational/technical) as needed Perform other duties as required.
Education/Experience:Prefer advanced degree in computer science or related technical discipline.At least 6 years experience and team leadership experience.Strong communication skills.Minimum of six (6) years experience installing and supporting Windows Operating Systems and/or 3 years installing Windows Server Operating Systems with two (3) years installing UNIX / Linux Operating Systems.Advanced Microsoft Windows, WebLogic, HPUX, Red Hat Linux or Network Certifications a plus.Foreign Language proficiency preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:Ability to automate and simplify installation processes for improved efficiency and reliability.Strong Java and shell scripting skills.General knowledge of airline or corporate flight operations and advanced flight planning procedures.High level Systems and Network support/design knowledge.Ability to size computer systems based on customer requirementsConsiderable ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships in a team environment.Ability to carry out assignments without direct supervision.Work off hours and be available via pager, cell phone and remote accessComplete knowledge of all customer installed products within his/her region
