Based on specific stated objectives perform analysis, design, or test of one or more complex materials, structural components or functional systems of company products. Without detailed direction, study basic design concepts and criteria for assigned complex materials, components, or functional systems to ascertain the engineering principles involved and to adopt features from previously successful designs of a similar nature. With general direction, plan, prepare, and complete the design of assigned complex components and functional systems. Study the operation of systems, select major components to meet functional and operational requirements, and determine the optimum location and arrangement from an engineering, manufacturing, and service standpoint. Direct the more detailed analysis and design and follow up to assure compliance with original philosophy and good engineering practices. Develop general test program to evaluate new materials of products.Position will be part of the Missile Defense Agency's (MDA) Ground-based Midcourse Defense (GMD) booster program. The candidate will be a key member of the specialty systems engineering activities, specifically in the area Mission Assurance Provisions (MAP) and Reliability, Availability, Maintainability, and Testability (RAM&T). Responsibilities will include the development and/or review of RAM&T Plans for the execution of the program reliability requirements, assist is contracting suppliers of new/modified components in order to ensure requirements flowdown/implementation, support meetings with Boeing and MDA, develop metrics for conveying program status, and create Reliability analyses to document component compliance status. The candidate will work with cross-discipline team members and must have excellent communication skills, presentation experience and the ability to work with a diverse community of engineers and managers to achieve the goals of the systems team. Other duties as assigned.Candidate needs to have knowledge of reliability, availability, testability, and maintainability standards (MIL-HDBK-217F, MIL-STD-756B, etc.) and mathematics. Candidate should be able to understand methods to create reliability predictions, assessments, failure analyses and reporting for aerospace hardware. Position requires experience coordinating and communicating with a broad customer and supplier base. Candidate will need to be capable of leading/coordinating a group activity, have strong communication and presentation skills, and be proficient with operating standard office software products. Ideal candidate has 5+ yeas experience with Reliability engineering. Security Clearance is a plus. Bachelor of Science in Engineering or Physics plus a minimum of four (4) years of related experience. Candidate must be a US Citizen.
