Sr Systems Engineer II (FCS, GSI-1)
Senior Systems engineer assigned to Future Combat Systems (FCS) Ground Sensor Integrator (GSI) program. The program is responsible for developing requirements, managing sensor development, and integration/test/verification of thirteen sensors that comprise seven sensor suites to be integrated on eleven FCS manned and unmanned ground platforms. The sensors are EO/IR, Aided Target Recognition, Multi-Function RF, Signal Intelligence, Combat Identification, Mine Detection and Chemical/Biological type sensors. The person will be a key contributor to the change management team, to do the following: assess customer change requests to determine what program areas are impacted by the change, determine the appropriate technical approach for bidding the effort for the change, engage the requisite GSI IPTs to coordinate bid inputs, and when necessary, generate the bid and requisite rationale. Duties will also include contributing to determine the bid instructions and which changes are to be flowed down to the GSI suppliers. This role will require coordination across a large team, and will include direct interaction with the suppliers to resolve questions/issues, as well as interaction with the customer to resolve issues and clarify direction. The change management team is also responsible for ensuring that the bids follow systems engineering processes for bid generation including both bottoms up and CPA enabler methodologies; and familiarity with standard engineering review and gating process. The candidate will also be involved in fact finding activities with both the GSI customer. The candidate should have experience writing Basis of Estimates (BOEs) with sufficient rationale to justify the effort described. Familiarity with the proposal costing and proposal gating process (primarily Gate 4) is a plus.
