Sr. Systems Engineer
Provides technical leadership to the Engineering department. Functions as a technical advisor providing specialized advice of an advanced technological nature for solving broad technical problems. Performs systems analysis and design on new programs and proposal efforts. Has proven technical capabilities in multiple flight simulation disciplines and detailed knowledge of systems & software engineering techniques used in the simulation industry. Provides technical support within the Engineering department while also assisting Marketing and New Business.
Qualifications:
BS in Computer Science or Computer Engineering. Advanced degree preferred.
· Must possess at least 10 years experience in the simulation industry.MS preferred, 15 years experience in computer systems and information infrastructure design. Must have credentials in the Information Assurance (IA) domain: Certified Information System Security Professional (CISSP) preferred.Performs System Engineering of networked Personal Computers (PC’s) used in real time aircraft simulation and database development systems. Performance assessment of systems involving several PC’s to installations involving 100’s of PC’s and disparate networks. Able to perform requirements analysis and translate customer high level requirements into derived requirements, systems solutions, and conceptual design. Works on both new business / proposal phase and after contract award. Working knowledge and experience in these areas desired: DITSCAP process; real time operating systems; storage area networks and large scale data storage, archive, and recovery systems; wide area networks; simulation interoperability (DIS & HLA ); and MSCE practices.Secret security clearance is a plus
Incumbent must be eligible for DoD Personal Security Clearance.
Requirements:
· Provide technical support of all phases and types of work performed by the department.
· Has wide authority on technical matters.
· Focus on long-term technical aspects and processes.
· Provide technical support to Marketing during the "identify opportunity" and "pursuit" phases of business development.
· Lead the design activities and be the overall design authority during the Proposal phase of a program. After contract award, lead the design activities on a program into the Detailed Design phase.
· Define “how” the training system can be structured to best comply with the Customer Requirements, including the extent of re-use of existing components and equipment.
· Analyze the system to ensure that it will meet the stated performance requirements (e.g. flight performance, stability, weight, power, timing, human factors, throughput, etc.).
· Identify risk and cost driving design issues to support the MS&T Proposal, Project Planning, Monitoring & Control and Risk Management processes.
· Work closely with program and functional management to ensure that the training system meets program schedule and cost requirements
· Stay current in industry advances. Research new simulation methods and system architectures.
· Represent CAE USA at industry technical forums and customer oral presentations.
· Work closely with project engineers, functional resource managers and group leaders to guide technical direction.
