As a Senior Information System Technologist you will be part of the team responsible for setting the technology direction for IIS Information Systems (IS). This position focuses on revolutionary technology insertion and innovation that strengthens the IS reputation as an innovator, improving awareness of emerging technologies and bringing innovative solutions to solving difficult IT problems. This role requires an experienced technologist to provide both technology leadership and business enablement. The candidate must be able to work in a fast paced, dynamic environment. The ability to perform diverse tasks is essential to job success. Teaming, partnership and communication are critical attributes for interfacing with those providing technology insertion, standards, architecture, strategy, and program management. . Role and Responsibility : Specific Technologist responsibilities include: * Define and document the IS strategic technology direction. Develop and maintain the IS Technology Roadmaps. Lead the IS Technology Review Board (TRB). * Align IS technologies to Business Strategy. Partnership with the IS Engineering Business Relationship leader (BRL) to support the IIS technology portfolio and technology development process. * Champion innovative solutions to solve challenging IT problems and improve IT services. * Recommend, provide trade-off analysis, and facilitate implementation of emerging technologies with positive Return-on-Investment. * Establish technology partnerships with Raytheon and industry peers, vendors, and universities. The candidate will be expected to participate in, and grow to be a key contributor at global technology conferences. * Responsibilities will include the preparation and presentation of oral and written reports, reviews, proposals and schedules for the highest levels of senior management. Skills and Knowledge: Required Skills : * Excellent communication, technical, and leadership skills. Demonstrated technical leadership qualities and a commitment to technology excellence. * Eight years or more experience as a technologist with extensive experience in support of IT infrastructure and business systems. * Financial analysis modeling techniques (ROI) to assist in the decision making process. * Broad Information Technology expertise. Passion for keeping up with new technology and industry trends. * Is able to align work objectives with the IIS and RTN strategy and vision. * Models ethical behavior in all matters and is a leader in regard to Raytheon Values. Values diverse perspectives. * Accepts accountability for decisions/actions including responsibility for mistakes. * Must have the ability to manage time properly between strategic and tactical matters. * Must have a can-do attitude and a self-starter. * Demonstrated experience in many of the technologies below: - Desktop & Server Operating Systems: Windows, Unix/Solaris/Linux, etc. - Microsoft (Desktop OS, Active Directory, Windows Server, etc) - Database Technologies, Microsoft Technologies, Computer Operations, Development technologies, Storage Technologies, Networking Technologies, Telecommunications Technologies - Languages: programming experience, Java, C/C++ - Development: Web technologies, Collaboration, Standards Desired Skills: * Five years or more experience with emerging technology insertion. * IS Enterprise Architecture experience including Reference Architecture Development * Technical career path including desire for IT Fellow * Design, Writing, Documentation, communication/presentation expertise. * Writing White and/or Positional papers. * Must posses strong influencing skills. Position Location : Can be in one of the following: Garland,TX, Aurora,CO, Reston or Falls Church,VA. Required Education (including Major ): Masters Degree (MSCS, MSEE, etc) preferred but not required. Bachelor's in a technology discipline (CS, EE, etc) is required.
