Manager (Manager/Supervisor of Staff) Education Level: Bachelor's Degree Contact Information Company: CTS Corporation Contact: Dan Witters Email: Apply by Email Phone: 574-523-3850 Fax: 574-522-5488 Job Description Sr. Mechanical Design Engineer SUMMARY: Responsibilities include the mechanical development and design of new and existing products with design documentation, including mechanical requirements documentation for both catalog and NRE development and the analyses and validation of mechanical packages for the thermal product line. Is the technical expert in military and aerospace electronics---mechanical design of complex aluminum frames and heat sinks, including MIL ruggedized chassis design, adhesives and thermal interface materials, thermal and structural design considerations and mechanical assembly drawings. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES: Develops/designs from concept to production mechanical packages for thermal product lines. Design and supervise construction of test fixtures and equipment. Identifies design issues and determines design direction, goals and task plans for segments of engineering programs and generates and maintains mechanical engineering schedule. Determines and implements changes to enhance design or meet functional specifications. Meets cost goals and maintains current cost status. Designs and conducts experiments, collects data and interprets results, conducts analysis and writes analysis and test reports. Draws conclusions and reconciles differences between predicted and actual results. Supports PWB design and analysis for high reliability rugged environments, including severe shock, vibration and temperature extremes. Stays current with new trends in materials used for rugged PWB environments. Interfaces with program team members, suppliers, and customers. Negotiates tasks and schedules with other internal groups to ensure conformance to product schedules. Provides technical support for bid responses. Conducts regular design reviews. REQUIREMENTS BS/MSME or BS/MSEE and experience with chassis design/sheet metal experience strongly preferred. Experience in the following highly desired: Electro-mechanical experience. Experience with SolidWorks software tool for modeling mechanical design. Experience with FlowTherm software tool for thermal analysis. Strong project management skills. Strong technical knowledge base with hands-on experience developing heat sinks and with heat sink design for conduction cooled products. Familiar with manufacturing and test environments for rugged computers, including hardware and materials. Experience in the analysis of circuit card level products with respect to shock, vibration and thermal performance. Solid background in all mechanical aspects of PWB design. Advanced knowledge of SolidWorks and FlowTherm software, working knowledge of MIL-STD’s and MIL-SPEC’s, i.e. MIL-STD-810. In-depth knowledge with electro-mechanical and thermal design.
