Sr Manufacturing Engineer I (Production Engineering)
Applies advanced Industrial Engineering concepts, technique, analysis and decision tools in: * Analyzing and improving operations with process improvement strategies to lower cost and improve quality. * Identifying non-value adding components and barriers. * Applying advanced Lean Manufacturing principles for effective utilization of resources including facilities, personnel, materials and equipment. * Reviewing engineering drawings, specifications, layouts, sketches, and other applicable information in the selection of the most practical and economic floor layouts, material handling methods and tooling needs for fabrication, assembly, inspection, test sequences, and packaging. * Developing and maintaining labor standards and participating in development of new standards and labor estimates as required. * Performing analysis of value streams, including capability, capacity, throughput, work flow and logistics. * Managing factory simulation and modeling software and provide data analysis. * Working with engineering, facilities, and operations staff members to resolve production problems in tooling, fabrication, processing, and assembly to expedite assignments as required for workplace design and asset utilization. * Understanding and generating assembly instructions, engineering orders, product quality requirements and government specifications and assures incorporation of activities in manufacturing processes. * Recommending improvements for engineering or assembly instruction changes to improve ease of manufacture. * Working with Six Sigma projects to build value of preferred alternatives and minimizing objections by emphasizing value. * Develop internal budgeting and cost information Required Skills: * Analytical Project Management skills * Manufacturing Shop Floor experience * Fluent with Microsoft Office Suites * Able to analyze and interpret engineering drawings, military specifications, quality requirements, process specifications and other sourced documents * Experience with bill of material management and document revision control, preferably in a SAP environment * Statistical computation skills * Standard Work, Time Studies * Must be able to work independently as well as work in a team environment * Willingness to work across all programs and on multiple projects simultaneously * Strong communication and interpersonal skills * Speaks positively about change and new situations as opportunities for learning and growth * Seeks a win-win solution through a give-and-take process * Formulates change strategies * Capable of building relationships to gain support and commitment from others, promoting ideas with enthusiasm, conviction and assertiveness * Ability to supervise technical personnel Desired Skills: * Lean Manufacturing knowledge * Six Sigma Certification or project completion experience * Manufacturing experience in multiple programs or products * Motion and Time Study * Independently manages and defines problem solving projects * Computer based simulation/modeling experience * Workstation design * Barcode implementation * Required Education (including Major): Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering from an ABET accredited school as a minimum * 5 years experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably high volume electrical or mechanical assemblies Raytheon is an equal opportunity employer and considers qualified applicants for employment without regard to race, color, creed, religion, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, age, disability, or Vietnam era, or other eligible veteran status, or any other protected factor.
