We have an immediate opening for a Principal Software Engineer to work i ndependently on a mission critical application. As a member of the design/development/support team, analyze business requirements, architecture/design of applications/software systems using web-centric technologies. All tasks are performed under a full lifecycle methodology and software engineers participate in requirements definition, applications design, development, documentation, testing, deployment and support activities. Responsibilities: - Participates in requirements definition, applications design, development, documentation, testing, and deployment and production support activities. - Frequently contacts customer representatives concerning projects, operational decisions and scheduling requirements. - Performs estimating, demos, ensures timely response to customer needs, and reports status. - Conducts briefings and technical meetings for internal and external representatives. Required Skills: - 8+ years software development experience. - Must have at least 3 years experience in development lifecycle of commercial/business software applications. - In-depth experience in web-enabling and/or design and systems development as Internet/Intranet applications. - Must have hands-on experience with web technology products (J2EE, Java, Servlets, WebSphere, Java scripting, EJB e-commerce, HTML, XML, XSLT, etc.) and software enterprise applications (architecture/design, middleware, messaging, etc.), .NET, VB6 and SQL. - Must be able to develop code and implement client/server applications using relational/OO database management system. - Familiarity with OOA/OOD and JSP, ASP, and GUI design is necessary. - Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing. Required Education (including Major): - Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or related technical discipline. Desired Skills: - Experience with some or all of the following: JSP, XML/XSLT, UDDI, WSDL, SOAP, C/C++, Unix, Oracle, RUP, Web Services, SOA - Experience designing and developing web-based and client/server applications with an Oracle back-end is helpful. - Other desired skills and experience include: full lifecycle systems/software development/integration experience, component-based development, IPlanet and IIS on NT platform, exposure to CASE tools such as Cool:Gen or Rational Rose. - Hands-on experience with Windows NT and UNIX/Shell scripts environment. Working knowledge of Section 508 is desired. - Experience in legacy systems transformation. - Working knowledge of Six Sigma.
