Location: Orlando, FL 32801 Employment Type: Full Time, Employee Reference Code: 1001140464  Position Summary:  Â· The aircraft certification engineer is a Senior Level Position responsible for participating in a team of structural engineers, avionics engineers, and aircraft engineering personnel for certification with the Civil Aviation Authority (Federal Aviation Administration in US) for transport category aircraft modifications and systems integration Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) projects.   II.  Essential Functions:  Â· Plans and executes certification projects. (30%) · Works as part of various program teams in support of project certification objectives.  (20%) · Generates and coordinates certification plans and associated compliance requirements. (5%) · Interfaces with electronics and avionics designers to develop Federal Aviation Regulation (FAR) complaint configurations. (30%)· Coordinate Design approvals (10%)· Develops directly key project design data elements. (5%) III. Interactions:  Supervision Received:   Â· Plans and carries out work assignments; resolves most conflicts which arise; coordinates work with others as necessary; interprets policy on own initiative in terms of established objectives.  Keeps Teamleader informed of progress, potentially controversial matters, or far-reaching implications  Supervisory Duties:   Â· No supervisory responsibility but is responsible for managing a specific function   IV.  Minimum Qualifications:   Â·High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) Diploma·B.S. degree in Mechanical or Aeronautical Engineering or Federal Aviation Administration Designated Engineering Representative Certification required ·Minimum of eight (8) years experience in airframe structural analysis on transport category aircraft, including but not limited to aircraft structural modification designs, Integration of avionics systems, Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) work, certification plan and substantiation report development, and test plan and test report authoring and review.·Minimum five (5) years of aircraft modification design experience necessary·Minimum five (5) years experience in transport category airframe structural analysis ·Minimum five (5) years experience of Finite Element Modeling and Analysis capability·Minimum five (5) years experience of Fatigue and Damage Tolerance Analysis experience·Must be willing to travel both domestically and internationally·Valid Passport with the ability to travel in and out of the United States·Regular attendance is required ·Must have a positive attitude ·Must be well groomed and maintain a professional appearance ·Must be legally authorized to work in the country in which the position is located ·Must pass 10 year background check and drug test V.  Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:  Â· Strong command of classical hand-analysis techniques· Ability to generate thorough, detailed, yet concise structural analysis reports· Ability to interpret design drawings of various aircraft modifications and identify design changes required to ensure that sound load paths and structural integrity are maintained· Knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs) governing aircraft certification· Strong knowledge of aircraft structural installations and governing regulations· Proficient with the following software:· Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Internet Explorer.· MathCAD· NASTRAN/FEMAP· NASGRO· AutoCAD (basic user skill, proficiency a plus)· Must possess excellent oral and written skills, as well as strong analytical abilities· Must have the ability to interact with a wide range of customer groups, both internal and external · Must be able to communicate technical issues in an assertive and tactful manner · Previous aircraft modification and repair design experience · Ability to work in a team environment· Ability to prioritize workload
