We have an immediate opening for a Sr. Business Objects/Business Intelligence Developer to lead multiple small teams of software engineers performing maintenance and new development work on USPTO's mission critical systems. All tasks are performed under a full life cycle methodology. Responsibilities: - Plans, analyzes and defines high-level software strategies and solutions through functional and technical expertise and an understanding of the enterprise business system. - Performs analysis, design, development, testing and deployment of application systems. - Integrates technical and application components to meet business requirements. - Creates detailed design specification for application components based on the requirements. - Ensures that software requirements are accurately reflected in detailed designs and coded modules. - Provides production and operations support including 24x7 on-call and weekend support . - Ensures compliance with customer guidelines, processes and procedures. - Confers project standards and procedures related to configuration management throughout the application software development/maintenance life cycle. - Confers with IT management on administrative policies and procedures related to technical problem resolution, and priority management that relate to the system support and maintenance. - Performs full life cycle development in designing a Business Intelligence solution that would exceed the needs of senior level management. Required Skills : - Minimum of 6-8 years experience in design and software development of a large scale commercial application/system. - Minimum of 3-4 years experience in design and development of Business Intelligence solutions in medium/large scale commercial enterprises and developing complex applications in BO platform. - Hands-on experience in web services architecture, design, development and implementation and portal development. - 2+ years as Senior or Lead Business Objects Developer . - Strong knowledge of relational database concepts, large-scale RDMS based systems design and development, dimensional modeling, OLAP and Business Intelligence concepts and design methodology. - Strong skills in PL/SQL, Business Objects product families, specifically the Business Objects (BO) Web Intelligence XI R2, BO Universe development, BO Report development, Business Objects SDK, BO Ad Hoc reporting, BO System usage monitoring, BO Security design and implementation, BO Central Management Console, BO InfoView, BO Scheduler and Enterprise Performance Management (EPM) products . - Full life cycle development of commercial applications using relational databases and Businesses Intelligence solution using Business Objects and Oracle PL/SQL. - Business Objects, Java, SQL, PL/SQL, Oracle 9i/10g, Unix and Linux. - Good understanding of relational database modeling techniques. - Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills. Desired Skills : - Certifications in Business Objects, J2EE/XML technologies, Oracle DBA. - Experience in EAI tools, performance tuning, messaging. - Working knowledge on CM tools - ClearCase, PVCS Dimensions. - Exposure to IBM Rational Suite/tools, Mercury products. - Good understanding of Web Application Server configuration concepts including EJB deployments, Web Services and Connection Pooling Services. - Conversant with SOA methodologies (WSDL, SOAP, UDDI), document structures, parsers, XML/XSL, XML based API's in Java. Required Education (including Major): - Bachelors' degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related technical discipline.
