Location: Northern/Huntsville, AL Job Category: Engineering Career Level: Experienced (Non-Manager) Reference Code: S08-7648 Software Systems Engineer II General Dynamics C4 Systems designs, develops, and integrates highly sophisticated command, control, and communications systems for the U.S. military, federal agencies, civil governments and related international customers. These state-of-the-art systems combine advanced imagery software and multi-sensor integration to provide real-time situational awareness to tactical decision makers. Our systems transform large amounts of complex data into useful information that is clearly and intuitively presented to the operators, enabling commanders make informed decisions in real-time. We build systems for a wide range of global missions including wartime battlefield management, crisis management, peace keeping and contingency operations, drug intervention, and public safety.BS Degree in a technical field related to systems engineering + 3 years of demonstrated results, or equivalent experience.Candidate will participate as an active member of a project team and accept direction and mentorship from senior team members. Candidate will perform stakeholder analysis, development of architectural concept models, trade studies, identification of key performance parameters (KPP), providing system requirements definition, derivation and definition of high and low level system products to support the TAIS system during systems, software and test phases. Participate in multiple phases of system design for the development of functional enhancements and component design for the Tactical Airspace Integration System (TAIS).Strong technical contribution as individual designer. Identifies domain of expertise.Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems. Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, test, installation, operation, and maintenance. Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into software specifications. Plans sub tasks. Follows direction and makes a significant contribution to the team. Listens to and acts on mentor advice. Begins to understand other commitments and interdependencies. Moves from sub-task optimization to project optimization. Promotes process/policy compliance. Supports continuous improvement initiatives. Expanded contact within internal work groups.
