Software QA Engineer

Defense & Security Systems:Sensis Defense & Security Systems division increases tactical capabilities through advanced radar detection and surveillance integration products. Customers include the worlds militaries as well as system integrators. Sensis Corporation currently has an opening for a Software Quality Assurance Engineer in our Syracuse, NY location.The Software Quality Assurance Engineer plans and executes software quality assurance activities for assigned projects (programs and products). This includes creating internal and deliverable Software Quality Assurance Plans (SQAPs) and actively participating in project planning and software design/development activities. The SQA Engineer reviews project documentation and work products for compliance to internal standards and criteria, monitors project compliance in accordance with project plans and contractual requirements, performs design control phase gate evaluations, and monitors corrective actions/action items to closure. The SQA Engineer is a member of the Configuration Control Board (CCB) and Test Review Board (TRB), and is expected to provide guidance to project teams to ensure planning and execution of required CCB and TRB activities in compliance with internal standards. This includes witnessing and/or monitoring selected test events.The SQA Engineer is responsible for monitoring, analyzing and reporting selected project metrics, attending project and Quality Assurance status meetings, and for contributing to the improvement of processes and procedures. Required Education: B.S. Computer Science, Interdisciplinary Engineering or Software Engineering; equivalent experience will be consideredASQ CSQE certification preferredRequired Skills: Proficient in use of Microsoft products (Word, Excel, Access, Project)Detailed knowledge of quality system and software development standards including ISO 9001:2000 and ISO/IEEE 12207. Familiarity with DO-178B/DO-278 Software Safety standards and/or SEI CMMI Level 3 requirements a plusDetailed knowledge of design control processes and methodologies from requirements definition and analysis to system test and product supportDetailed understanding of software development models, software coding standards/practices, software integration and test processes and in-process evaluations required to assure software quality objectives are fulfilledProficient in using UNIX and PC-based applicationsExcellent interpersonal and technical writing skillsThis individual must be comfortable working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.Sensis provides an excellent working environment offering advancement and professional growth opportunities, competitive salary, and a comprehensive benefits package.
