Location: Pittsburgh, PA 15123 Job Category: IT/Software Development Career Level: Experienced (Non-Manager) Reference Code: S07-6892 Software Engineer(Quality Automation) In its Pittsburgh, PA operations, General Dynamics C4 Systems creates graphical user interface software solutions based on information visualization, interactive data exploration and real-time collaboration.We leverage our expertise in information visualization and information architecture with our Software Development Toolkit, CoMotion(r).CoMotion-based applications let people analyze and share data as well as thoughts about that data, with other people in real-time. Well-informed group decisions are made quickly across technical, organizational and geographic boundaries without travel costs or changes to existing information systems.Demonstrates the ability to weigh risks and make progress in the face of uncertainty. Willingly takes on problems and commits to solutions. Lead QA efforts for test automation. Participate in the full product lifecycle (requirements, design, development, test, release, customer support). Develop and implement test strategies. Develop and implement SQA and Test plans. Develop, document, and execute test cases. Prepare reports and metrics as required. Manage defects to a timely resolution. Manage software tools such as Configuration Management, Bug Tracking, Test Management. Contribute to test automation. Duplicate and resolve customer issues. Travel may be required up to 20%. Other duties as assigned.Generally within an identified work group. Day to day direction usually from task lead or project leader. Little or no outside business contact. Initial contact with more experienced technical personnel in mentor/mentee relationship. Minimum of 5 years experience working in SW QA, ideally in a JAVA J2SE environment.1) Configuration Management and version control (CVS / Perforce preferred) 2) Build and Release systems (Ant preferred) 3) Installers (Installshield / Install Anywhere preferred) 4) Test automation software (e.g. WinRunner, LoadRunner, Silk, TestDirector). 5) Scripting (e.g. shell scripts, Perl, Python, VB script) 6) Java software development (Java SDK preferred) 7) Coverage and leak testing (OptimizeIt preferred) 8) Bug tracking and metrics (Bugzilla preferred) 9) Performance monitoring and analysis Thorough understanding of QA methodologies and processes. Thorough understanding of GUI, database, and Internet testing. Thorough understanding of automated testing, test automation tools, scripting, and test case management. Thorough understanding of coverage, performance and leak testing. Thorough understanding of Java and Object Oriented Design and Implementation. Thorough understanding of Windows and at least one Unix-style operating system (e.g. HPUX, Solaris, Linux); familiarity with Mac desirable. Collaborative approach, excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills. Excellent problem-solving skills, self-starter, initiative and drive.Must be able to travel 20% of the time.
