Sonalysts, Inc. is looking for a Junior Software Developer to join our software team in Dahlgren, VA.  The position involves developing innovative combat system prototypes, training systems, and human system integration (HSI) solutions.  Specific work will include software engineering to support the following:

• Design and development of cutting edge planning, systems engineering, spatial analysis, and optimization tools using Java, web services, XML, XSLT, and other exciting technologies

• Design and development of graphical user interfaces (GUIs) to be applied in prototype and/or future applications

• Automated assessment and recording of the performance of Navy operators and tactical decision-makers




Required Skills/Education

A successful candidate is self-motivated and creative with excellent problem solving and communication skills.  You must have a B.S. (or higher) in Computer Science (or related field) and 2-3 years of experience developing software using the Java programming language.  Familiarity with other object oriented languages (C/C++, C#, etc.) is a plus.  In addition, you must have experience with all of the following:

• Use of the Unified Modeling Language (UML) and object-oriented design patterns in development of software applications

• Architectural design, detailed design, code and testing phases of software design process

• Design of data structures, efficient algorithm development, and the object oriented paradigm

• Experience with Windows, UNIX, and Linux operating systems

U.S. Navy/DoD combat system experience is desirable, as is experience with control systems and GUI intensive systems.  You must be a U.S. citizen and possess (or be qualified for) a Department of Defense security clearance.
