Sheet Metal MechanicsDescription: Volt Technical Resources is recruiting Sheet Metal Mechanics for contract positions in Wichita, KS. These positions require the performance of assembly operations involving component parts and small assemblies to conform to established specifications, assuming full responsibility for such assigned operations. May involve work on parts or assemblies on several models of aircraft, all within a given work period. Must also assist in the assembly and/or installation of component parts and large and small assemblies. Must have at least SIX months of directly related experience. Requirements: To successfully perform the duties for these positions, Contractors must be able to perform one or more operations, of which the following are typical: Burnish, compound and polish various parts; Connect bonding wires, fasten clamps on electrical wiring, mount relays; Trim, drill and install metal bond assemblies; Assemble safety chains, arm rests, ash trays, cabin tables, Pilot's heater valve flange, flap inspection hole cover, rear window lock assembly; Dimple various parts. Make the following installations: Landing light pane, nut plates, valves, drain pan & seal, blocks, rubber bumper strips for sliding windows, seat brackets, floorboard supports, Fairleads, Riv-nuts in Radio Bracket. Typical bench operations include: Prepare landing gear brace assembly for installation, prepare landing gear for installation, rivet trailing edge assemblies, mark skin for Erco Riveting, Cleco various parts for assembly operations, drill and burr various parts prior to, during and after assembly operations, Squeeze rivet former clips to hinge, prepare and install parking brake valve, finish drill and rivet gusset, mix sealing compounds. Typical aircraft sealing operations include: Application of sealing compounds to interior of pressurized cabins, fuselages, fitting sealing medium into place by hand pressing or using special hand-tools or guns. May apply successive coats or fillets by hand or special hand-tools until sufficient seal has been applied; Smooth seal-out with proper solution when required; Apply slushing compound with brush or spray gun; Mix and prepare sealing compounds, as required; Do all sealing rework required to prevent leaks; Trim, file and burr various parts. Required Skills: Must have at least 6 months of directly related experience; Must be familiar with pneumatic rivet hammer, rivet squeeze, machine riveter, electric drills, measuring devices, including scales, protractors, etc., and hand tools. Must be familiar with materials used in aircraft component parts and assemblies ie: aluminum, steel, plexi-glass, rubber, fiber, neoprene, fabric, phenolite, plastics and fiberglass. Must have the ability to read and interpret fairly complicated blueprints, know shop mathematics, handbook formulas and use precision measuring instruments.
