Job Details: Tool Designer
QuEST is seeking a Senior Tool Designer to immediately join our growing team. In this role you will create or modify the designs of tools required to assemble, service, repair, test, and transport aircraft engines. Responsibilities include:
· Analyze requirements, gather reference material, and develop design concepts for a complete range of support tools associated with commercial and military jet engines.
· Estimate hours to model and detail work.
· Complete 3D model and 2D layout of tool designs using Unigraphics CAD software. Generate detailed customer/vender ready prints per ANSI and customer design standards
· Communicate concepts/designs to others using verbal and or written instructions, sketches and/or CAD files.
· Ensure designs satisfy all requirements, including but limited to: fit, form, function, safety, ergonomics, cost, design robustness, and manufacturability.
· Work with a Design Validator/Checker to finalize final designs
· Share technical expertise with other designers and drafters
· Prepare and conduct design reviews with customers.
· Mentor/Lead junior designers
Requirements:
· 7+ years of jet engine support tooling design experience. Will consider candidates with equivalent experience. Related Technical degree(s) would be beneficial.
· Minimum 5 years relevant experience using Unigraphics or similar CAD software. Specific experience with UG-NX4 or higher a plus.
· Mentor level instruction in geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (ANSI Y14.5) required. Experience in PWA360 standards highly sought.
· Direct experience in traditional metal machining, fabrication, and manufacturing processes required. Other materials and advanced machining desirable.
· Knowledge of related sound engineering design theory, stress calculations, tolerance stack-ups, and strength of material properties.
· Competent in MS-Office suite tools, basic project management, and use of Web-based support tools.
· Must possess good communication skills and be a team player.
· Candidates must be U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
Compensation:
· Both full and part time positions may be available.
· A competitive hourly rate for either is available and depends on the specific qualifications and experience of the candidate.
