Senior M & P Reliability Engineering Specialist - (CM10122)

You will be the Responsible Reliability Engineering Specialist who will provide in-depth materials & processes (M + P) technical support in the areas of hi-rel aerospace electronics hardware design, fabrication, assembly, & testing for both in-house organizations & subcontractors. Provide M & P technical expertise to SS/L engineering & manufacturing organizations involved in the design & fabrication of printed wiring boards (PWB’s) & assemblies (PWAs). Provide technical guidance in the application of requirements from NHB5300.4, MIL-STD-2000, J-STD-001, IPC-A-610 and other industry/government standards on printed wiring assemblies. Provide technical guidance in the application of requirements from MIL-P-55110, MIL-P-50884, MIL-S-13949, IPC-A-600, and other industry/government standards on printed wiring boards (rigid & flexible boards). Review engineering designs, manufacturing documentation & test reports & provide technical assessments. Support material review board (MRB) & failure investigation activities. Recommend process improvements & corrective actions on PWB/PWA related issues. Evaluate & qualify vendor sources for raw materials & equipment used for PWB/PWA production. Provide technical review & approval of materials & processes used by SS/L subcontractors in the production of electronic assemblies. Establish reliable & cost effective engineering & manufacturing requirements for electronic assemblies as old technologies become obsolete & new technologies are being developed & implemented. Research, develop, & assist with implementation of lead free solder materials & processes to meet RoHS requirements. Implement DOE & SPC concepts in manufacturing as they are applicable. Support SS/L internal audits & ISO 9001 audits of electronic assembly manufacturing areas. Formulate project/programs plans, budgets, schedules, & work packages. Provide leadership and technical assistance to other M & P engineers in related technical fields   Minimum Requirements: BSEE or materials science or other related engineering/science field. MS preferred; Ph.D. desirable. Familiarity with MRPII, JIT, TQM. Knowledge of cost & schedule management (CSM) system. 10 years experience in aerospace electronics industry with B.S. 8 years with MS; 6 years with Ph.D. Thorough knowledge of NHB, MIL-STD, IPC standards related to PWB/PWA design & fabrication. Demonstrated broad experience in PWB/PWA fabrication, particularly PTH/SMT technologies Demonstrated experience with manual & automated electronics assembly equipment (hand soldering, pick & place, solder dispensing, convection reflow, wave soldering, solder rework/repair, cleaning, inspection). Familiarity with CAD/CAE systems used for design of printed circuit boards & assemblies.
