SUMMARYSUMMARY



Guided by established policy and with minimum supervision, performs varied purchasing assignments to procure supplies, raw materials and equipment in a timely, cost effective manner.

 SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Carriers out broad assignments usually involving the purchase of important and critical items requiring extensive or specialized knowledge and experience in Company products and processes.

 

Develops alternate sources of supply when current vendors and suppliers are inadequate in price, delivery or quality.

 

Negotiates contracts where losses occurring through errors in judgment would seriously impact company operations.

 

Solicits bids and quotations; reviews and negotiates purchase contracts for major commitments.

 

Exercises judgment and working knowledge of materials and sources of supply to make cost effective purchases with desired quality and delivery.  Prepares cost savings reports.

 

Works with quality to maintain approved supplier list.

 

Processes receivers when order is closed, expedites shipments and follows up on open orders.

 

Responsible for maintenance of 1) Open Purchase Order File  2) Quotation File  3) Catalog File  4)  Closed Purchase Order File  5)  Vendor Master File and  6)  Vendor Tool File.

 

Performs other duties as assigned.

 Qualifications and Requirements

 

High school graduation plus business college or equivalent.  One to two years related experience.  Familiarity with accounting and data entry skills desirable as well as MRP. Verification of specified requirements may be requested at the discretion of the Company.
