Senior Data Architect
 
Responsibilities
The primary responsibilities of a Data Architect are to assist projects in the design of data related structures and provide technical guidance to project teams about processes related to the lifecycle of data from creation through destruction; and metadata related to these processes.
 
A Data Architect performs the following specific duties and responsibilities:
 
-  Leads project requirements reviews and initial analysis of available data
-  Leads or reviews the design of application data structures using data modeling tools and insures data designs follow enterprise and data domain standards and processes
-  Gives direction to and participates with project teams in the implementation of processes which result in a high degree of data quality and integrity; and assists in the resolution of data quality issues
-  Gives direction to and participates with project teams in the use of extract, transformation, and load tools and resulting programs and procedures
-  Insures data is properly classified for security purposes and insures data security designs meet enterprise standards
-  Coordinates construction of the database and database objects with the database administrators
-  Coordinates the design and implementation of processing related to data archiving, retention and purging; data backups; and  data recovery
 
Senior Data Architects may occasionally be required to be available during non-business hours and weekends to assist with off-hour implementations and problem resolution. This may require the individual to carry a cell phone and be able to access the Honeywell network from their homes.
 
All Data Services personnel are responsible for maintaining a high level of competency and knowledge of database, data warehouse, metadata, and data security concepts; and practical application of those concepts as they relate to providing cost effective business solutions.
Basic Qualifications
-  At least 5 years of experience designing and developing business or data warehouse applications in a Windows, AIX, UNIX, or Linux environment, including the use of a scripting language
o  At least 3 year experience developing program code with a major programming language
o  At least 2 year of experience performing in the role of a business or systems analyst
-  Demonstrated experience developing applications using relational databases and a knowledge of SQL
-  Basic project management skills
-  Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent work experience
 
Additional Qualifications
-  Preference will be given to individuals who have been responsible for data warehouse design, development, and implementation activities or have participated in the operations of a data warehouse environment
-  Preference will be given to candidates with at least 2 years of experience with an ETL tool such as Informatica, Data Integrator, or DTS
-  Preference will be given to candidates with formal data modeling or data architecture experience
-  Self motivated, self-starter, and an ability to effectively train and mentor others
-  Preference given to individuals with Oracle, MS SQL Server, or other technical certifications
-  Preference given to individuals with Greenbelt and DFSS certifications
