Senior Accountant

Under the direction of the accounting supervisor, the accountant participates in all facets of the plant finance department accounting function within the framework of company policies and time requirements. 

 

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESPrepares and analyzes financial statements, including account reconciliations.Monitors established internal controls to ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley requirements.Performs material and scrap analysis and completes required reports.  Advises manufacturing management staff members concerning this function.Collects data, analyzes, tracks and reports fringe benefit costs. Advises Human Resources concerning this function.Monitors capital expenditures and reports progress and variances.Completes special projects as assigned by the Accounting Supervisor or Controller. Provides information and analysis to other, non finance department staff members in resolving financial and budgetary problems. Ensures that all financial analysis, tracking and reporting is completed in compliance with GAAP standards as well as Sarbanes-Oxley and corporate policies and requirements.  Communicates all issues involving financial department matters and standards compliance with Accounting Supervisor and Controller.  Maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that gets along with company employees, customers and business associates.

 

QUALIFICATIONS and EXPERIENCEBachelor’s degree in AccountingProficiency in PC applications including spreadsheet packages.Excellent analytical, organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.Some accounting experience, including co-op, preferred.  Ability to consistently follow policies and procedures.
