SENIOR MANUFACTURING PROCESS ENGINEER

 

EMS Technologies, Inc., voted one of Forbes Top 200, is currently seeking a Senior Manufacturing Process Engineer for our Defense & Space Systems division. This division develops advanced technology hardware for military and space applications, including providing commercial and military customers with critical subsystems and components for terrestrial, airborne and space-based communication, radar and electronic warfare systems.

 

Some projects include:

B-2, F-22 Antenna Systems, Mars Lander, IED Suppression Systems

 

POSITION SUMMARY:

 

EMS requires a manufacturing support individual with 15 years of hands-on, production line experience.  The candidate must be capable of assessing a wide range of varying assembly lines in a high-mix, low-moderate volume production operation, making real-time alterations reducing waste and improving the process flow.

 

PRINCIPLE ACTIVITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  Develop manufacturing improvements by using cellular/work flow concepts
- Experience managing teams in a production environment
- Establish manufacturing pull systems using visual Kanbans
- Create, measure and communicate area/line metrics and improvements
- Prepare and maintain Standard Operating Procedures for manufacturing processes
- Assess product design manufacturability/assembly (DFM/DFA) w/design engineering
- Experience with PFMEA process and root cause analysis using 5-Why and fish bone tools
- Understanding of visual work shop and Quality at work source methods
- Complete understanding of Lean Processes using VSM, Kaizen, 5S, TPM and Poka-Yoke
- Train production personnel on new processes, methods and technologies
- Create “Mfg. Readiness Review” input and participate in customer presentations

PRINCIPLE RESULTS/ACCOUNTABILITIES:

- Ensure division metrics/objectives are met or exceeded
- Reduce defects through process improvement / controls
- Improve overall productivity, quality and safety

REQURIEMENTS:

-  Bachelor's in Mechanical/Manufacturing/Industrial Eng. or related technical field
- Six-sigma (Green/Black belt) certification
- Lean Certification
- Experience in defense and space integration processes desirable

-  This position requires US citizenship and the ability to obtain a security clearance.
