The Control & Diagnostic Systems (CDS) discipline within Pratt & Whitney Engineering is responsible for the development of control and diagnostic algorithms, systems and software. The developed system manages engine operations, enables engine integration with the aircraft and provides diagnostic/prognostic capabilities.The discipline is seeking an experienced technical leader as a Discipline Chief for the Requirements and Logic Development (RLD) sub-discipline within CDS. Working closely with the RLD discipline manager, the Discipline Chief is responsible for a broad range of technical leadership activities critical to achieving technical excellence in engine logic development and organizational effectiveness. The Discipline Chief shall work closely with the RLD discipline manager in staff competency assessment and development, improving the organizational capabilities through processes, tools and technology development. The Discipline Chief is responsible for leading the discipline standard work activities and design reviews. The successful candidate must be able to work effectively in a multidisciplinary/multi-project team environment focused on developing and certifying mission critical embedded systems. This position will enable the candidate to progress (Fellow, Senior Fellow) within Pratt and Whitney's technical ladder as an individual contributor.
BS in Electrical or Computer Engineering or Computer Science. MS preferred. -Minimum of 10 years of relevant technical experience in safety critical embedded control system development.-Solid track record of achieving results in a technical leadership role.-Proven ability to drive process improvement in a technical organization using 6 Sigma or ACE methods and engineering standard work.-Conversant in regulatory standards such as DO-178B and DO-254-Outstanding cross discipline communication skills.-Knowledge of CMMI and model implementation is desirable.-Familiarity with jet engine control system architectures and control logic design desirable.
