Reports to: Principal, Repair Development Engineering

JOB SUMMARY: This position reports to the principal of Repair Development Engineering. Performs Root Cause Technical Investigations regarding component reliability (#1 Reliability), In Flight Shut Downs (IFSDs), and Unscheduled Engine Removals (UERs) on and off-site for commercial and military gas turbine engines. Uses results and conclusions of investigations to develop and/or improve component inspection and repair task procedures. Implements results and conclusions through Engineering Changes (ECs), Service Bulletins (SBs), Technical Orders (TOs), and Internal Engineering Notices (IENs). Recommends implementation of Field Maintenance Programs (FMPs), Material Maintenance Programs (MMPs), and Material Maintenance Assistance (MMAs) when applicable. Works closely with Design, Structures, Heat Transfer, and Secondary Air Systems groups to provide customer with investigation and repair development analytical substantiation. Supports JT8D, JT9D, V2500, PW2000, PW4000, PW6000, GP7000, TF33, F100, F119, and F135 programs/investigations. Prepares and presents reports that include MTU Aero Engines North America Engineering conclusions, recommendations, and substantiation for customer Program Management Team (PMT), Component Integrated Product Team (CIPT), and Configuration Control Board (CCB).

1. Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Project, PowerPoint, and Outlook
2. Working Knowledge of CAD and Illustration Tools

1. Four year degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent Gas Turbine Industry experience
