Reliability Engineering Specialist
You will perform physical analysis & testing of materials & processes as they apply in satellite manufacturing. • You will perform advanced analysis on a wide assortment of materials & processes, as they are used in satellite systems. The analysis may include research of any failure history, verification of the defect, & determination of the failure mechanism, solutions, process improvements. • Utilize knowledge of materials, optical & thermal properties as they apply to satellite manufacturing, with an understanding of physics of failure & MIL-STD tests & inspection methods. • You will plan & implement an effective test investigation or experiment & communicate the results in a written and/or oral presentation. • Operate various types of laboratory & analytical equipment, such as optical microscopes, scanning electron microscope, EDS, x-ray spectrometer, XRF, FTIR, Instron. • Perform various processes & analyses to include internal visual inspection, radiography, contamination analysis, physical measurements, photographic documentation, SEM/EDS analysis, optical properties mechanical, thermal & other special testing. • You will prepare formal analysis reports, suitable for distribution to management & customers as required. Participate in Failure Review Board activities. • Support overall Product Reliability organization as a technical expert with respect to materials analysis, structural failure mechanisms and other support activities. • You will work with Lab Technicians and Engineers in performing analytical investigations.. Requires: BS in Chemistry, Material Science, or equivalent. MS preferred. • 8 years experience in performing various materials & investigational analysis, with 4 years performing advanced materials & failure analyses • Operation of Lab analysis & inspection equipment, including optical microscopes, SEM/EDS. XRF, FTIR, Instron, Thermal, Optical, & other analytical test equipment. • PC skills, Microsoft Office tools including Excel, Word Space Systems/Loral has export control and security issues that require attention to the citizenship status of every individual who performs work on its behalf.
