At Easi (Enterprise Advisory Services, Inc.), we are doing what others dream of – enabling safe human exploration of space. As a Team Member on the Bioastronautics Contract, Easi is seeking a Registered Dietitian/Scientist to join the Nutritional Biochemistry Laboratory (NBL) Team supporting NASA JSC. The NBL, within the Human Adaptation and Countermeasures Division, works to determine the nutritional requirements during extended-duration space flight. Integral to that are the goals to maintain astronaut health and to develop, evaluate, and validate nutritional countermeasures to prevent or minimize the negative effects of long-duration space flight on the human. This includes both ground-based and space flight research studies, as well as operational assessments of nutritional status.
The incumbent will manage nutrient and dietary intake data from ground-based and space flight research studies as well as work extensively with biochemical data resulting from analysis of biological samples from flight and ground-based protocols. The incumbent will also assist with development and verification of the database used for the Space Flight Food Frequency Questionnaire.
The incumbent will manage Nutrition Laboratory Information Management (LIMS) data archive including organization, sample planning and ordering, label preparation, and data entry and verification from multiple NBL projects. The incumbent will organize and maintain biological sample inventory including entry into LIMS, transfer to other laboratories (at JSC and shipment to other laboratories), and tracking of long term archives
The incumbent will support multiple Nutritional Biochemistry Laboratory projects, particularly with regard to protocol and data management. The incumbent will support for laboratory processes and documentation, prepare for planned data collection sessions, maintain sample inventory and tracking databases, package and ship samples, interact with other JSC and/or extramural laboratories, track data and subcontracts, and assist with data analysis and development of tables and figures for publications/presentations.

Easi (Enterprise Advisory Services, Inc.), partnered with NASA in the success of ongoing Shuttle, International Space Station and future Moon and Mars missions, has an opportunity for a skilled and motivated contributor to join the Nutritional Biochemistry Laboratory team.
Responsibilities:
· Prepare, monitor and analyze dietary and nutrient intake data for ground-based, space flight operational and research protocols using nutrient databases (e.g., NDS-R) and standard spreadsheet software (e.g., Excel).
· Manage and interpret data, review data for errors and inconsistencies, conduct statistical analyses, and prepare graphical representations of results.
· Manage Nutrition Laboratory Information Management (LIMS) data archive including organization, sample planning and ordering, label preparation, and data entry and verification from multiple Nutritional Biochemistry Laboratory (NBL) projects
· Organize and maintain biological sample inventory including entry into LIMS, transfer to other laboratories (at JSC and shipment to other laboratories), and tracking of long term archives
· Prepare samples for shipping following all IATA regulations
· Coordinate sample send-out documentation including tracking of data received for external laboratory analyses
· Prepare and present scientific data and reports for NASA internal, local, and national meetings.
· Contribute to peer-reviewed publications.
Requirements
Education/Training/Experience:
Required
· B.S. plus 5 or M.S. plus 3 years experience, or equivalent, with an emphasis on dietetics/nutrition research data collection.
· Ability/willingness to provide constant attention to minute details.
· Basic understanding and knowledge of standard nutrient sources in foods.
· Independent contributor applies standard techniques on routine projects or as part of larger project.
· Ability to carry projects to completion.
· Ability to work both as an individual and as part of the laboratory team.
· Excellent multi-tasking and organization skills
· Excellent database skills, oral communication, technical writing and data interpretation skills.
· Ability to contribute to peer-reviewed publications.
· Proficiency with Microsoft Office in general and advanced Excel skills.
Desired
· Human subject research experience.
· Experience with NDSR (Minnesota Nutrition Data System for Research)
· Experience with nutrition/biochemistry laboratory science.
Security/Residency
· This position requires a NASA badge. Obtaining a NASA badge requires U.S. Citizenship.
· This position carries a NASA Security Position Risk Designation of Moderate and requires the successful completion of an extensive background investigation by the Office of Homeland Security.
· This position requires successful completion of a pre-employment drug and alcohol test and is subject to on-going random drug and alcohol testing.
