Quality Engineer I

GKN Aerospace, an international manufacturer of compressor airfoils and turbine engine components, has an immediate opportunity for a Quality Engineer based in our Cincinnati (Blue Ash) location.

Responsibilities include: Develop quality plans for parts processing and approval of routers, and administer and maintain adherence to these plans; Certify that quality specifications are met within customer requirements and serve as release agent for part shipments; Serve as liaison with manufacturing engineers to improve product process; Serve as technical quality contact with customers; Assist with the formulation of quality control policies and procedures and recommend revisions of specifications when required; Identify and resolve manufacturing quality problems, and assist manufacturing personnel with the interpretation of complex part prints and specifications;  Maintain all material testing plans for customer compliance and develop testing plans for raw materials; Develop a fully compliant quality folder and administer compliance and audit work, work stations, and aerospace paperwork requirements; Mentor junior level Quality Engineers, and teach quality processes to Quality Technicians and manufacturing personnel; Communicate and correspond with customers, suppliers, employees, and management within the company regarding quality issues, problems, and complaints.

Requirements include: Bachelors Degree in engineering, quality, or equivalent training and experience, preferably in the aerospace industry.  Minimum of 3 years as Quality Engineer or equivalent experience.In-depth knowledge of NDT processes and familiarity with the following: welding; heat treating of aerospace alloys; non-destructive testing; shot peening; coordinate measuring machines; inspection methods; and measuring and test equipment.  Proficient in the use of computers, blueprint reading, geometric tolerances, and application of SPC to part characteristics.  Good interpersonal and communication skills, problem solving skills, and understanding of aerospace requirements.  Previous GE DSQR experience strongly preferred.  Must attend training and earn DQR, DSQR, and/or other customer certifications as required in order to release manufactured parts for shipment.
