Principal Systems Engineer/Systems Architect

Job Description: Develop and integrate systems solutions to solve customer requirements to generate new business opportunities. Specific areas of interest include fire control systems, demolitions initiators, aircraft podded systems, aircraft displays, weather systems, safety and hazard analysis, networked sensors and system architecture. Responsibilities include Systems Architecture Design, Systems CONOPS development, Systems Requirements Analysis and Development, Systems Integration and Test, Proposal Development, Project Planning/Scheduling and Systems Estimating. Applicant will be the technical lead for an engineering team responsible for the development of new products. Other responsibilities include proposal development supporting the program office in the development of technical solutions, win strategies, and customer marketing to include periodic travel to visit customers and capture new requirements. Required skills: Successful candidate will have a broad knowledge of Systems Engineering and Architecture and a minimum of 5 years experience in Systems Engineering and/or technical proposal writing. Systems architecture experience including hardware and software requirements allocation and interface definition are required. The candidate must also have experience in engineering project planning and estimating. Expert knowledge in a specific area (e.g. Fire Control, Integrated Networks, Safety Analysis) may be substituted for breadth of knowledge. The candidate must be skilled at performing systems integration and test. The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Security Clearance or higher is required . Excellent teamwork, leadership, and oral and written communication skills are a must. Desired skills: Knowledge and experience developing and writing Department of Defense proposals is desired. Knowledge of the DoDAF and Systems Architecture experience is a plus. DOORS or similar requirements management tool experience is desired. Experience with systems engineering and software integration processes for defense and homeland security programs as well as planning and execution is desired. Prior military experience in a user, designer, or test role. It is highly desired that the candidate have experience in successful planning, tracking, and estimating of systems tasks. Required Education (including Major): B. S. degree or higher in Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or related degree. 5 years of relevant systems engineering experience. Active participation in defense, security industry, and/or industry trade groups is a plus.
