Principal Systems Engineer - EO Systems Design

Job Description: Experienced systems engineer to support system design of precision guided weapon systems including EO and or GPS systems. Must work at the missile and/or weapon-system level. Based on customer needs, develops system requirements and their flowdown to subsystems areas. Establishes criteria for, and participate in, design trade studies. May perform one or more of the following: direct the efforts of failure review boards, the efforts of risk management boards, the efforts of system interface working groups, the verification approaches, the trade studies, etc. Applies advanced technical principles, theories, and concepts. Contributes to the development of new principles and concepts. Works on unusually complex technical problems and provides solutions which are highly innovative and ingenious. Works under consultative direction toward predetermined long-range goals and objectives. Assignments are often self-initiated. Develops advanced technological ideas and guides their development into a final product. Serves as organization spokesperson on advanced projects and/or programs. Acts as advisor to management and customers on advanced technical research studies and applications. Security Clearance: Secret. At a minimum, an Interim Secret clearance will be required in order to start work. Positions at Raytheon may require U.S. citizenship for purposes of obtaining clearances. Additional clearances may also be required from the DoD. Required Skills: Familiarity with precision guided weapon systems especially EO and GPS guided systems. Experience with requirements and performance analysis for EO and or GPS systems. Has the ability to apply advanced technical principles, theories, and concepts across several disciplines. Can work under consultive direction toward pre-determined long-range goals and objectives. Experience with integration of hardware and/or software systems. Ability to lead small to medium systems engineering teams. Desired Skills: Missile systems experience. Excellent verbal and written skills, familiarity with DOORS requirements management tools and Microsoft Office suite. Team lead experience. Required Education (including Major): Minimum B.S. in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Optics, Applied Math, Applied Physics, Systems Engineering, Engineering Physics.
