Principal Research Scientist

The Centers for Public Health Research and Evaluation (CPHRE) is Battelle's lead health research and survey operations unit. CPHRE maintains seven offices throughout the United States. CPHRE conducts grant and contract health related research for the National Institutes of Health, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, state governments, non-profit foundations and private industry. CPHRE's multi-disciplinary professionals conduct demographic, epidemiologic, occupational health, health services, health promotion, prevention, maternal and child health, and social and behavioral public health research and program evaluation. Position Responsibilities Battelle is seeking a Pharmaceutical Outcomes researcher to join a national staff of researchers focusing on health economics and decision analysis. The person in this role will be responsible for leading or contributing to pharmacoeconomic projects for the FDA and other clients. Major responsibilities will include reviewing medical literature, analyzing the risk and benefits of drug therapies, documenting analyses, preparing final reports, and briefing federal clients on study results. This person will be expected to interact with external clients, manage project budgets, and participate in the preparation of funding proposals. This person is expected to work as a team member, which may include directing junior staff in project activities. Required Qualifications - Doctoral degree or Master's degree with three to five years related experience in Economics or Pharmaceutical Outcomes Research. - Experience and good technical ability with MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint). - Strong written and oral communication skills. - Publication in peer-reviewed journals and technical reports. - Strong analytic skills (i.e., cost-benefit analysis, risk benefit analysis, simulation models). - Expertise in using decision analytic modeling. - Familiarity with federal health care policy. - Familiarity with the Federal Drug Administration (FDA) regulatory process. Preferred Qualifications - Mastery of a foreign language. - Project management experience. Salary commensurate with experience.
