A Principal Engineering Lead is required for advanced airborne reconnaissance system programs. The main job responsibility is to manage a technical engineering team in the design, manufacture, and integration and test of technologically advanced Electro-Optical (EO) sensor systems.
Specific Responsibilities
' Lead a technical engineering team and contribute to the design, manufacture, and test of advanced airborne EO sensor systems.
' Lead the various engineering disciplines in the development of detailed technical plans, including cost and schedule.
' Work with Systems Engineering in the development and flow down of requirements, and review of and contribution to, as needed, requirements specifications.
' Work with mechanical, electrical, software and optical engineering in the review of and contribution to, as needed, component architecture design, manufacture, integration and test (both performance and qualification testing); including development and documentation of sub-system interfaces.
' Lead the performance modeling/error analysis of the complete EO/IR system
' Work with the engineering team, program management and subcontracts / supply chain, as needed, to ensure proper engineering documentation is developed for external component procurement.
' Work with the program manager and the external customer to expedite resolution of any ICD issues.
' Manage technical risk on the program and provide guidance and direction regarding any major engineering challenges.
' Represent engineering to the program office, sr. management and external customers.
' Prepare and present technical briefings to the engineering team, and internal and external customers.
' Manage the cost and schedule performance of the engineering Control Account Management (CAM) team, and report status on a weekly basis to the program manager.
Qualifications
' Expert in the leadership of technical engineering teams
' Expert in at least one major technical aspect of EO systems; electrical, optical, systems engineering preferred
' In-depth understanding of the operation and performance of EO sensing systems, including at least cursory level familiarity with / understanding of all aspects of the design.
' Experience with cost and schedule management
' Familiarity with Military Standards for Airborne Equipment
' Strong personal discipline, verbal & written communication, documentation skills
' Willing to travel in the U.S. 10% to 15% of the time.
Experience
' Minimum Master's degree in engineering; electrical, optical, and systems are preferred
' Minimum 8 years experience in the design, manufacture and test of advanced electro-optical imaging systems
' Minimum 3 years supervision of a multi-disciplined engineering team working electro-optical systems
' US citizenship and ability to obtain a security clearance required
