We are currently recruiting for a Planner. Responsibilities include development of the production schedule as a result of MRP output, taking into consideration the available capacity, material and contractual delivery commitments. Communicates to product support managers completion dates and bottlenecks in releasing material to the floor. Review excess material for possible consumption in other jobs. Job Duties include:Planning, preparation, issuance and control of production schedules and coordination with material requirements to ensure a controlled flow of approved materials timed to meet production requirements.
Advising management of the status of work in progress, material availability, and potential production problems to ensure that personnel, equipment, materials and services are provided as needed.
Scheduling of equipment and personnel, confirmation of material supply and demands, preparation of work orders or purchase requisitions for the production or purchase of components or parts based on a master production schedule, shop load and inventory requirements.
Coordination of interdepartmental activity with quality assurance, manufacturing, purchasing, engineering, inventory control, traffic, etc.; scheduling and expediting the movement of parts by means of move orders, stock transfers and requests for shipping orders.
Contribution to the development of new concepts, techniques and standards. Considered an expert in the field within the organization.
Development of solutions to complex problems which require the regular use of ingenuity and innovation. Ensures solutions are consistent with organization objectives.
Work is performed without appreciable direction. Exercises considerable latitude in determining objectives and approaches to assignment.
Making sound strategic and tactical planning decisions is an expectation of this position, effects of decisions are long-lasting and heavily influence the future course of the organization. Errors in judgment or failure to achieve results would result in the expenditure of large amounts of company resources.
Serving as a consultant to management and special external spokesperson for the organization on major matters pertaining to its policies, plans, and objectives.
Position requires conceptual understanding of ERP. Understanding and proficiency in the following: various planning and inventory techniques and practices, Material Requirements Planning, Capacity Planning, various forecasting techniques and their application. Must excel in a team-oriented environment and exhibit team-player qualities.
Must have three - five years previous work related experience. One - three years MRP experience and one - three years capacity requirements planning experience desired.
Must be a U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain / maintain a government security clearance.
