Synopsis: Principal Systems Engineer Job Description: Direct support of NAVAIR 4.5 Avionics Department, which has a requirement for technical and scientific research, development, integration, analysis, assessment, and test and evaluation of related Navy avionics systems. This position will work closely with, and directly support the NAVAIR customer. Required Skills: Expert knowledge in a specific area (e.g. Specific Naval Aircraft Avionics, Integrated Networks, Data Links) may be substituted for breadth of knowledge. The candidate must be skilled at performing systems integration and test. An existing U.S Government Security Clearance or the ability to obtain at Secret level or higher is required. Excellent teamwork, leadership, and oral and written communication skills are a must. - Broad knowledge of Systems Engineering and Architecture and a minimum of 10 years engineering and leadership experience - Systems architecture experience including hardware and software requirements allocation and interface definition - Engineering project planning and estimating Required Education: B. S. degree or higher in Systems Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or related degree. 10 years of relevant systems engineering experience. Active participation in defense, security industry, and/or industry trade groups is a plus. Desired Skills: Experience with systems engineering and software integration processes for defense and homeland security programs as well as planning and execution is desired. Prior military experience in a user, designer, or test role. It is highly desired that the candidate have experience in successful planning, tracking, and estimating of systems tasks.
