PRODUCTION TEAM SECTION MANAGER

The company designs and builds armored vehicles and subsystems for the U.S. Army, Marine Corps, and international customers, and is the defense industry's largest supplier of armored military vehicles.Description of Work: This organization leadership position encompasses ownership and accountability for all aspects of specified manufacturing and production processes utilizing a team-based approach.The principal focus of responsibility is to lead various levels of teams in meeting or exceeding internal / external customer expectation. The successful candidate will possess an entrepreneurial spirit and be skilled in building relationships with customer contacts, Union leadership, and fellow team members.Additional responsibilities include:- Manage all aspects of team coordination and process to ensure success. - Monitor and analyze performance; implement corrective action plans where necessary. - Direct management responsibility for all area team advisors -Responsible for team member organizational and professional development -Make recommendations toward strategic improvements. -Manage HPU to contractual requirements - Manufacturing and test activities -Develop program plan to include manpower, equipment, and tooling requirements -Responsible for maintaining program budget -Recognized as JSMC contact for specified production area.Job Requirements: The Production Team Section Manager position requires a minimum of a Bachelor's degree accompanied with 5-7 years (10 years preferred) manufacturing supervisory experience as well as a strong background in production operations and leadership. The successful candidate must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills with people at all levels of the organization, be self- motivated, and demonstrate experience in building relationships and positively motivating teams to accomplish multiple objectives in the most efficient and economical manner. A strong background and working knowledge of a heavy fabrication manufacturing and assembly operations are necessary. Familiarity with Six Sigma Lean Manufacturing tools are strongly desired. Experience in a unionized environment is preferred. The ability to obtain special government access clearances if necessary is required. Section Manager must be able to work flexible hours and be actively engaged on the manufacturing floor on a regular basis.
