PRODUCTION MACHINISTDescription: JOB DUTIES: Perform layout, setup, and operation of conventionaland/or numerical control milling and/or profile machines. Responsible for skilled machining, finishing, and inspection of aircraft parts and sub-assemblies of components for use in development and modification of aircraft in accordance with DOD, manufacturer, company, supplier and other directives. Requirements: JOB SKILLS: Must have Aviation background. *1) Able to read and interpret blueprints, assemblydrawings, engineering drawings, process specifications, written instructions and sketches and determine sequence of operations.*2) Able to layout, setup, and operate machine tools such as:conventional/numerical controlled milling/profile machines, jig bore, engine and turret lathes, grinders, borers, honers, thread rolling machines, radial drill presses, tapping, broaching, Single and multiple spindle non-radial drill presses, and planers where methods must be devised to machine parts to be used for aircraft assembly.*3) Able to perform operations such as facing, turning, chamfering,planing flat surfaces, squaring details, planing flat cut surfaces, slotting keyways, drilling, hinge-drilling, counter boring, tapping, reaming, back spotfacing, spotfacing, countersinking, broaching, and hollowing to blueprint tolerance and finish.*4) Able to work on unusual or irregular shaped parts requiringingenuity to improvising and adapting tooling such as clamps, bars, and blocks, or on any parts requiring blueprint tolerance and concentricity.*5) Able to setup and operate precision measuring instruments andaccessories such as: micrometers, height gauges, dial indicators, depth gauges, surface gauges, etc. to ensure product quality including first article inspection. *6) Able to use common hand tools and power tools and equipment suchas: drill motors, hammers, wrenches, hoists, dividing heads, turntables, etc.*7) Able to remove, replace, check out aircraft components andassemblies *8) Able to effectively communicate, orally and written, with otheremployees, members of supervision, and others, as required in their duties.*9) Able to clearly document maintenance and repair actions,equipment status tags, logs, parts requests, etc.*10) Able to perform assigned duties while wearing required safetyequipment.*11) Able to perform assigned duties on all shifts withoutencumbrances due to weather or physical location and conditions.12) May order parts, pan stock, tools, materials, and equipment asrequired to perform assigned duties.13) Responsible for complying with all rules and regulationsconcerning health and safety, tool control, contracts, facilities and other pertinent coverages.14) Perform other duties as directed by supervision and managementfor the benefit of the company, program, or employee(s). Education and/or Training Requirements:Should have knowledge of shop mathematics, hydraulics, mechanical, pneudraulic and assembly methods and shop practice.
