PLANNER / MANUFACTURING ENGINEER

Planner / Manufacturing Engineer

JOB PURPOSE 

Position is responsible for writing operation sequences for the Travelers. This includes interpretation of customer drawings, computer models, specifications and processes. Writes Traveler operations for various machine functions such as cutting, drilling, milling, reaming, outside process, outside manufacturing and inspection.  Reports to GM

 

Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesFollow verbal and written instructionsMakes SolidWorks models for tooling jigs and fixtures.Write Travelers.Create engineering packages to be distributed to QC, Programming and Production.Maintain drawing revision levels (document control).Create solid models from drawings and or IGES files.Generate dimensional sketches for QC inspection plans.Coordinate with production and update planning and Travelers as required.Make material lists for purchasing.Point of contact for technical issues with customers

 Qualifications



To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required:

 Education and/or Experience

A minimum of five years related experience and/or training in a machine shop.A Manufacturing Engineering degree is helpful, but NOT a must if there is sufficient job experience.Knowledge of machining operations and equipment.Proficient with common computer programs.Proficient with SolidWorks 3D Cad Programming or equal modeling programs.

Language Skills



Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively with management, customers and/or employees of this company.

 Mathematical Skills



Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to work geometry and trigonometry equations. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages and ratios.

 

 Reasoning Ability



Ability to apply common sense understanding and carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

 Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to a typical office environment. The employee is occasionally exposed to noise levels in the shop environment that are very loud. Personal protective equipment must be worn at all times when the employee is exposed to these environmental characteristics. This includes ear and eye protection.
