Network Security Software Engineer
Security Engineer/Integrator: Implements network security and information assurance solutions for program and development systems based upon system level requirements, architecture models, and engineering design documents using a defense-in-depth approach and trusted products. Leads diverse security engineering teams in the accomplishment of security design and integration tasks. Key member of a research and development team charged with the rapid prototype and production of security solutions to meet critical DoD and Federal customer needs. Candidate must be able to meet the following criteria: -Knowledge: Applies advanced technical principles, theories, and concepts. Contributes to the development of new principles and concepts. -Problem Solving: Works on unusually complex technical problems and provides solutions which are highly innovative and ingenious -Discretion: Works under consultative direction toward predetermined long-range goals and objectives. Assignments are often self-initiated. Determines and pursues courses of action necessary to obtain desired results. Work checked through consultation and agreement with others rather than by formal review of supervisor. -Impact: Develops advanced technological ideas and guides their development into a final product. Erroneous decisions or recommendations would typically result in failure to achieve critical organizational objectives and affect the image of the organization's technological capability. -Liaison: Serves as organization spokesperson on advanced projects and/or programs. Acts as advisor to management and customers on advanced technical research studies and applications Required Skills: Recent experience in implementing complex, high-assurance information systems. Familiar with commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) technologies and trusted products (i.e., Sun Solaris Trusted Extensions, Oracle Label Security). Good writing, speaking and interpersonal skills; ability to take initiative and work unsupervised a must. Knowledge of DITSCAP, DIACAP, and/or DCID 6/3. Ideal candidate will have 8-12 years overall network security experience. Some travel required. Candidate must possess a current Top Secret with at least a single scope background investigation (or equivalent) with a periodic review that is less than five years old. Desired Skills:Recent experience with EMC Documentum collaboration tools a definite plus. Security certifications (Security +, CISSP, Sans, GIAC). Recent experience deploying security solutions for DoD networks (JWICS, SIPRNET, NIPRNET). Experience with firewalls (especially Netscreen appliances), intrusion detection systems, VPNs, high assurance guards, HAIPE, and Type-1 encryption devices. Multi-platform expereince (Windows, UNIX, LINIX) a plus. Familiar with MetaCarta products, or similar GIS/data tagging technologies.
