Qualifications:• Must have US Citizenship  • The candidate must be a customer oriented IT Professional with strong interpersonal and communication skills. The successful candidate will possess in-depth knowledge of networks, routers, firewalls, and switches. • Implement and maintain Network monitoring applications and appliances. • Monitor network and identify/report anomalies.  • The successful candidate will conform to all NASA, JSC, & MEI safety requirements and procedures, and may perform other tasks and duties as required. • Thorough knowledge of network communication protocols and networking technologies. • Thorough knowledge and experience with Linux, Windows, and Unix. • Thorough knowledge of Cisco routers and switches and associated technologies. • Working knowledge of PERL. • Perform packet captures and provide assessments using JSC provided monitoring and analysis tools: o Niksun NetVRC 3.0 o SolarWinds/Orion Network Performance Monitor o MRTG o NAGIOS o Gigamon GigaVUE o Fluke OptiView o Link Analyzers & Wireshark • Preferred BS degree in a computer related field. • Preferred CCNA, MCSE, RHCT, and CISSP. Responsiblities:• Perform network traffic monitoring, network traffic analysis, network testing and network troubleshooting on the Johnson Space Center Integrated Network System (JSC INS) and other on-site networks.  • Perform hardware and software requirements definition and operations for new network traffic monitoring, traffic analysis, modeling, and management systems.  • Assess, analyze and troubleshoot issues regarding the network traffic monitoring tools and their respective operating systems (Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4/5, Solaris 9/10, and Windows 2000/2003). • Maintain a thorough understanding of existing and emerging network and Internet technologies. Propose new ideas in which the JSC Network Traffic Monitoring, Management and Operations can be improved.MEI is an Equal Opportunity EmployerApply here
