Mission Operations Manager
Description:The Mission Operations Manager (MOM) shall provide direct operations and engineering leadership in support of real-time flight operations. The individual must routinely interface with the program customer, with the local customer, and with the facility management. The ability to provide anomaly support leadership, security compliance assurance, resource allocation, performance metric monitoring and reporting, and the facilitation of team communications are critical for this position. Administratively, the MOM shall serve as the signatory within the Operations Change Control Board (OCCB), and approve all discrepancy report closures. In the dynamic environment of flight operations, the MOM must be able to balance management, technical, and customer issues while focusing on meeting mission objectives.The operations and engineering managers are direct reports to the MOM. As such, the individual shall provide management support in the hiring of new personnel, and maintenance of the existing operations and engineering personnel. Maintenance activities include supporting individual employee performance assessment, creation of development plans, and merit increase determination (salary planning) for direct reports and next tier subordinates.Operations and engineering manager support also includes verification and oversight of day-to-day operations direction. It also consists of (along with the operations and engineering managers) verification of adequate shift log entries and discrepancy report completion. The MOM attends the daily operations and engineering briefings and meetings as required to ensure mission success.The Mission Operations Manager reports directly to the overall program manager.The ability to effectively communicate with various types of employees, with respect to age, gender, race, education and experience, in a satellite operations environment, in a dignified, respectful manner is critical to success in this position. This position can be located at any major GD-AIS site in Northern Virginia.Top SecretQualifications:A minimum of 6 years relevant technical and management experience is required. Direct satellite operations experience is critical for success in this role.A Bachelors of Science degree in an Engineering field is required.
