The following position is supporting the Orion Contract at NASA/Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas, which requires US Citizenship and relocation costs are not covered by employer.

JOB DESCRIPTION:Senior Mechanical Designer to assist the Mechanisms IPT in the design of the Crew Impact Attenuation (CIA) System for Orion.  Lead junior designers currently supporting CIA component development and ensure all engineering design products are technically accurate and consistent with department standards. Responsible for the design and integration of a CIA subsystem into flight vehicle.  Provide inputs to the integration testing and performance assessments. Perform other duties as assigned.

 

REQUIREMENTS:Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in the related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education, with 10 years of professional experience, or 7 years of professional experience with a related Master's Degree.  Must be proficient with Pro/E.  Experience with human-rated spaceflight hardware design and integrationGood communications skills Must be able to pass a DoD background investigation.
