Mechanical Design Engineer

Sensis Defense & Security Systems is looking for an experienced mechanical engineer to support the definition, design, fabrication and test of the Radar Environmental Simulator. We are looking for candidates with the experience and ability to:- Design and analyze mechanical assemblies (i.e. structures, mechanisms, component packaging, system cooling, cabling, etc.)- Interface with system engineering to allocate and derive requirements for mechanical components - Develop designs using SolidWorks CAD software- Interface with electrical and mechanical designers to complete final drawing package (assembly drawing, parts list schematic, connection diagram)- Produce solid designs to ensure performance, manufacture, support, alignment, calibration, test, deployment, etc- Interface with test engineering to develop production test fixtures- Support system test and integration efforts- Develop design documentation and conduct design reviews- Provide technical interface with customers- Interface with manufacturing and suppliers during fabrication and assembly- Work closely with manufacturing personnel to complete design documentation- Support Field Activity as necessary, which may include Installation/Checkout, Event Support and/or Training- Adhere to corporate processes and standards Qualifications:The mechanical engineer will work with team leaders and program management to meet commitments including technical, performance, cost and schedule. Education Required:A BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent with a minimum of 5 years of experience in a design / test / production environment.Required Skills:- 5+ years of related Mechanical Design Engineering experience- Demonstrated ability with the development of complex electro-mechanical systems in a team environment- Working knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing- Experience using SolidWorks 3-D CAD software- Experience in environmental design and testing of structures and electronic equipment- Ability to share expertise and assume ownership of assigned tasks - Capability to work as part of an integrated Government and Contractor team to ensure program success - Perform data analysis, prepare briefings and write reports- Ability to communicate clearly and in a timely manner (both written and orally) to the team and customer. - Experience in preparation of review packages, and to and participate in Technical Interchange Meetings and Design ReviewsDesired Skills: - Ability to perform finite element analysis (structural, shock, vibration, and thermal)- Packaging design of rack mounted chassis/cabinet and enclosure-based electronic assemblies- Experience using AutoCAD software and PDM applications (document management) in a production environment is highly desired- Proven track record of successfully fielding systems beginning from development to manufacture to qualification - Working knowledge of electronics packaging, construction materials, material characteristics and material compatibilities.The candidate shall demonstrate the following personality traits: - Self Motivation- Projects energy and enthusiasm - Encourages an environment that fosters creative excellence - Builds trust and rapport with internal team and Customer - Challenges conventional practices - Results oriented - Respects the opinions, contributions, and values of others - Demonstrated experience on equivalent programs for delivery to a demanding customerMust be able to receive US DoD Secret Clearance.Sensis provides an excellent working environment offering advancement and professional growth opportunities, competitive salary, and a comprehensive benefits package.
