COMPANY OVERVIEW

 

Our Client is a joint venture with Pratt & Whitney, a world leader in the design, manufacture and service of gas turbine aircraft engines, industrial gas turbines and space propulsion systems. The company is a 'near-shore' facility, located in Puerto Rico, which provides engineering (Mechanical Design, Structural Analysis, Heat Transfer, Product Definition, Performance Analysis and Aerodynamics, Project Engineering, Systems Design, Software and Controls) and other professional services to the ITAR, Military, Defense, Aerospace and Power Generation Industries. 

 

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

 

The Engineering Leader reports to the Department Manager of the area to which they are assigned. The various department areas are listed in the Company Overview.

 

POSITION SPECIFICATIONS

 

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

 

This individual will:

 

¨  Be responsible for developing the technical capability of the practitioners in their department and working closely with customers to align analysis methodologies.

¨  Review the technical work (exit inspections) in the assigned discipline to ensure high quality results.

¨  Mentor and recruit to improve the capability of the overall team.

¨  Establish design concepts, criteria and engineering approaches for product design, analysis, integration and test.

¨  Apply extensive technical expertise, and apply knowledge of other related disciplines. 

¨  Capability to evaluate customer requirements, resolve complex issues and translate requirements into practical engineering solutions.

¨  Technical aptitude to understand complex requirements and communicate the issues to others.

REQUIREMENTS

 

EDUCATION:  A Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, CAD/Design, or a related technical field is required. A Masters Degree or PhD is a plus.

 

EXPERIENCE:

¨  US Citizenship required

¨  Minimum of 5 years engineering experience required.

¨  Demonstrated experience as a technical project lead and/or mentor (it is not required to be a manager).  Track record in guiding the advancement of technical practitioners.

¨  Prior work experience in Gas Turbine or Aerospace design is highly desirable

¨  As there are multiple Engineering Leader roles within the company, strong general Mechanical and Aerospace Engineers are desired.  Some specific expertise of particular interest include, but are not limited to:

o Gas Turbine design and analysis and discipline experience.  Working knowledge of ANSYS, NASTRAN, Unigraphics, and FLUENT in other modeling tools.

o Good working knowledge of gas turbine engine design and support systems, internal/external engine components and support equipment.

o Understanding of the relationship between internal system interactions and the development of analysis boundary conditions analysis models.

o Experience in Product Definition Discipline work.  Working knowledge of Unigraphics, Pro-E, or CATIA, CAD tools.

o Strong knowledge, interpretation, and application of ASME Y14.5 and engineering drawing change processes. 

COMPENSATION: 

 

A compensation package will be developed for the successful candidate that includes an excellent base salary and performance bonus potential, relocation expenses, 401(k), medical plan, Christmas bonus, merit program, and vacation and holiday time.
