On May 2, 2005, The Boeing Company and the Lockheed Martin Corporation announced their intention to form a joint venture called the United Launch Alliance (ULA).

Job Title: Materials, Processes and Physics (MP&P) Engineer

Location: Decatur, AL 35673

 

Job Responsibilities:

MP&P engineer to provide on-site weld engineering support at Marshall Space Flight Center for Boeing ARES USP contract. Candidate will have a broad knowledge of welding processes and problem solving skills for resolution of design and production issues. Work requires frequent interaction with other inter-organizational personnel and external customers.

 

Educational requirements:

- 5 to 8 years experience in an engineering classification or either a Master's degree with 3 to 6 years experience or a PhD degree with 0 to 3 years' experience in an engineering classification.

- Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry.

- ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

 

Preferred Skills:

- Weld engineering experience in a Production environment.

- Experience supporting Friction Stir Welding process.

- Employees must meet minimum vision requirements and demonstrate the ability to hear pure tone thresholds as specified by the relevant contractual agreement, regulation and / or company occupational health guide.

- Current Atlas employees applying for Delta jobs and current Delta employees applying for Atlas jobs will be offered an equivalent position on their heritage payroll of selected for hire.
