SI International is seeking a Maintenance Technician in support of the Department of Homeland Security in Lincoln, Nebraska.  At this site, SI International is tasked with producing various types of memory identification cards and secure identification documents on behalf of DHS.  The Integrated Card Production System (ICPS) is what the Maintenance Technician will be working with to produce these cards.

 

The primary purpose of the Maintenance Technician is to perform all maintenance on the ICPS machines.  Major duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:


RESPONSIBILITIES:


Maintenance

 

Coordinate with Maintenance Manager on calibration of the ICPS system

 

Adjust machines to maximize the use of consumables and minimize the card reject rate

 

Review reject cards to identify potential system problems

 

Troubleshoot to determine corrective action when problems occur

 

Actively participate in liaison activities with other USCIS locations to assist with system or equipment problems

 

Provide general preventive maintenance and cleaning at regularly scheduled intervals, as needed and as determined by Maintenance Manager

 

Maintain inventory of maintenance tools and accessories and keep in good repair

 

Quality

 

Participate in or support, as appropriate, all Quality Control procedures relative to ICPS project

 

Monitor production environment, including temperature and humidity of the room

 

Interact with Inventory Control staff and participate in maintaining inventory of supplies

 

Participate in scheduling of shift and staff to provide optimum production and quality

 

Participate in development of project enhancements and quality improvements

 

Maintain a clean work environment according to ICPS policies and procedures

 

Security & Safety

 

Ensure that all Security guidelines and regulations are followed

 

Report any breach of security to Maintenance Manager, Assistant Manager or other senior management immediately

 

Assist in ensuring that all employees adhere to prescribed security controls

 

Assist in monitoring all visitors for compliance with security standards

 

Maintain security data/logs as requested by Maintenance Manager, Assistant Manager

 

Training

 

Participate in inter-disciplinary training to become capable of providing support in those areas as needed

 

Assist Assistant Manager as requested in providing on-the-job training for new employees

 

Participate as requested in job upgrade or new skill training

 

Team Responsibilities

 

Participate in weekly team meetings held by the Maintenance Manager and/or Assistant Manager or other management staff and communicate any problems, concerns or ideas for improvement of project

 

Interact professionally with on-site USCIS staff as appropriate

 

Support ICPS team through exemplary attendance, attitude, production and dependability

 

Successful candidate may be required to change shifts and/or provide other shift coverage as necessary

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Education, Knowledge & Experience Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent.  Technical courses relating to computers, engineering, mechanics, etc. would be helpful, as well as experience with computer hardware.  Must have mechanical ability.  Must have good written communication skills, and ability to be an effective team member.

 

Security Clearance: Must have ability to be approved for a Department of Homeland Security security clearance.

 

Physical, Mental & Environmental Requirements: Position requires ability to perform moderately difficult manipulative skills such as working with hand tools on equipment.  Must be able to concentrate on fine detail and to see objects closely as in reading and use computer monitor.  Must be able to communicate with team.  Must be mobile to move around in work area.  Environment is controlled indoor climate with no detected hazards present.
